- Stress and major life changes
- Trauma and post-traumatic stress
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- ADHD and attention-related concerns

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches and work with each client to develop a treatment plan based on their needs and goals.
Couples Therapy
Cornerstone provides counseling for couples and families experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, betrayal, intimacy concerns, parenting challenges, lifestyle changes, or other relationship stressors. Some insurance plans may cover sessions for couples when treatment is connected to a covered mental health diagnosis. However, relationship counseling and premarital counseling are typically not covered by every plan. Please contact your insurance provider to ask whether your plan includes couples or family therapy and whether any special authorization is required.
Therapy for Children and Adolescents
Insurance may help cover behavioral and emotional health services for children and adolescents. Treatment may address concerns involving emotions, behavior, relationships, school, family life, or social development. Parents and caregivers may also participate in the treatment process when appropriate. Coverage requirements can differ based on the child’s age, diagnosis, clinician, and treatment plan.
Psychological Assessments and Evaluations
Cornerstone offers psychological assessments that may help answer questions related to:
- ADHD
- Cognitive functioning
- Social and emotional functioning
- Personality
- Behavioral concerns
- Learning or concentration difficulties
- Treatment planning
Many insurance companies pay a portion of the cost of certain psychological assessments, but coverage varies considerably. Your plan may require prior authorization, documentation of medical necessity, or a referral. Our intake team can explain the evaluation process and provide information you can use when speaking with your insurance company.
How Do I Know What My Plan Covers?
Having insurance through one of the companies listed above does not automatically guarantee that every service or clinician will be in network.
Your coverage may depend on:
- Your specific insurance plan
- Whether your clinician is in network
- Your deductible
- Your copay or coinsurance
- Whether the service is considered medically necessary
- Whether prior authorization is required
- The type and length of treatment
- Whether you are receiving therapy or psychological testing
The name on your insurance card may also differ from the company that manages your behavioral health benefits. For example, some plans use Optum or Evernorth to administer mental health coverage.
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
- Is Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago in network?
- Is the clinician I plan to see in network?
- What is my copay or coinsurance for an outpatient therapy session?
- Do I need to meet a deductible before coverage begins?
- Is prior authorization required?
- Are telehealth appointments covered?
- Does my plan cover couples therapy?
- Does my plan cover psychological testing or assessment?
- Is there a limit on the number of sessions I may receive?
Your insurance company can provide the most accurate information about your plan. Our intake team can also assist you in verifying your benefits, please contact our Intake Team for more information at (773)572-9578.
What If My Insurance Does Not Cover the Full Cost?
You may still be responsible for a deductible, copay, coinsurance, non-covered service, or another portion of the cost. Cornerstone’s standard therapy fees are generally between $180 and $200 per session, depending on the therapist with whom you are matched. Cornerstone does not accept Medicaid at this time. Our team can help explain expected fees and payment options before your first appointment.
